The wet mix is usually made in a kneader, pug mixer, or high shear granulator (pharma). It is either hand fed or fed by a feeder into the feed bin. The wet mix is moved to the extrusion zone by twin screws. There, it is wiped through a dome die (screen) to make well-formed, cylinder shaped extrudates with a controlled diameter. The extrudates break off on their own and are gathered for the next step in the process.
