Detailed Information on Integrated Extruder & Spheronizer Continues Process

Thus, integration is designed for continuous operation. The extrusion operation can be considered a wet granulation technique, applying pressure to a mass until it flows through a die, which determines the dimensions of the agglomerated particles. The extrudate length is the dimensional variable. The extruded granules must exhibit characteristics of cohesiveness, firmness, and plasticity. This process is divided into three stages: breaking the cylindrical segments (or extrudate), agglomeration of the broken segments, and smoothing of the particles. Breaking of the cylindrical segments occurs due to interactions with the rotating chequered plate, the stationary drum wall, and other extrudate particles. Agglomeration happens when smaller fragments from the breaking stage are picked up by larger granules during smoothing. Spherical particles are formed during the smoothing stage through rotational motion of each granule about its axis and constant plane changes. FEATURES The equipment can be equipped with 21 CFR Part compliance, allowing for secure batch reports and process data saving. This also helps to avoid challenges faced in repeating batches during operator changeovers. Due to its continuous process, the equipment provides a higher percentage of yield, which helps to reduce material loss and directly impacts the productivity of the process from a commercial point of view. The equipment operates in a controlled manner from the material feeding stage, helping to maintain control throughout the process with a negligible level of errors. The equipment ensures consistent and precise batch repeatability, This reduces variability, minimizes the risk of defects, and enhances overall product reliability. PERKS 1. FAQs on Integrated Extruder & Spheronizer Continues Process

An Integrated Extruder & Spheronizer is used for the continuous production of highly uniform spherical pellets in a single automated system. It combines extrusion and spheronization into one process, reducing handling steps and improving production efficiency.

The system first extrudes the wet mass through a selected extrusion attachment and then directly transfers the extrudates into the spheronization chamber. The pellets are formed in a continuous, controlled process with minimal product hold-up and reduced exposure to the environment.

The integrated design improves productivity, reduces material handling, minimizes solvent evaporation, lowers contamination risks, increases yield, simplifies cleaning, and enables uninterrupted pellet production with consistent product quality.

The machine supports interchangeable Cone, Axial, Dome, and Radial extrusion attachments. This flexibility allows manufacturers to optimize pellet characteristics, compaction levels, and process performance for different formulations.

The system offers GMP-compliant construction, recipe-based automation, PLC-HMI controls, low environmental exposure, validation-friendly operation, and scalable production capacities from development batches to commercial manufacturing, ensuring reliable and reproducible pellet production.
