Working Principal of

Integrated Extruder & Spheronizer Continues Process

image

Thus, integration is designed for continuous operation.

The extrusion operation can be considered a wet granulation technique, applying pressure to a mass until it flows through a die, which determines the dimensions of the agglomerated particles.

The extrudate length is the dimensional variable.

The extruded granules must exhibit characteristics of cohesiveness, firmness, and plasticity.

This process is divided into three stages: breaking the cylindrical segments (or extrudate), agglomeration of the broken segments, and smoothing of the particles.

Breaking of the cylindrical segments occurs due to interactions with the rotating chequered plate, the stationary drum wall, and other extrudate particles.

Agglomeration happens when smaller fragments from the breaking stage are picked up by larger granules during smoothing.

Spherical particles are formed during the smoothing stage through rotational motion of each granule about its axis and constant plane changes.
